How to Add a New Website Domain(using Projects)

How to Run Site Audit and AI Traffic Analytics on a New or Different Website

This guide will walk you through the process of setting up a new website in Writesonic to use domain-specific tools like Site Audit and AI Traffic Analytics.

Overview

To analyze a new website with Writesonic's Site Audit or AI Traffic Analytics (GEO), you need to:

  1. Create a new Project for your website
  2. Connect your domain to the Project
  3. Access the tools with your domain-connected Project selected

Let's walk through each step in detail.

Creating a Project for Your New Website

Step 1: Access the Project Selector

  1. Look at the top of the sidebar where you'll see your current Project (likely "Default Project")
  2. Click on the Project name to open the dropdown menu

Step 2: Add Your New Website

  1. Select "Add a new project" from the dropdown menu
  2. Enter the following information:
    • Project Name: Choose a name that helps you identify the website (e.g., "Company Blog," "E-commerce Site")
    • Domain URL: Enter the complete URL of your website (e.g., "https://example.com")
      • Make sure to include http:// or https:// at the beginning
      • Double-check for typing errors
  3. Click "Create Project" to finish

Your new website is now added and selected as your active Project.

Running Site Audit on Your New Website

Now that you've added your website, you can immediately run a Site Audit:

  1. With your new website Project selected, look for "Site Audit" in the sidebar under "SEO & Content workflow"
  2. Click on "Site Audit"
  3. Configure your audit settings:
    • Set how deep you want the audit to crawl your site
    • Set how many pages to analyze
    • Choose which issues to prioritize
  4. Click "Start Audit"

The Site Audit will analyze your website and identify:

  • Technical SEO issues affecting performance
  • Content quality problems
  • User experience factors
  • Opportunities for improvement

Once complete, you'll receive a detailed report with actionable insights for your website.

Tracking AI Traffic with AI Traffic Analytics (GEO)

To monitor AI crawler visits to your new website:

  1. Make sure your new website Project is selected in the Project selector
  2. Click on "AI Traffic Analytics" in the sidebar (marked with "New")
  3. The system will begin monitoring AI interactions with your website

AI Traffic Analytics will show you:

  • When AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini visit your site
  • Which pages they're accessing most frequently
  • How users are finding your content through AI platforms
  • Traffic patterns that traditional analytics miss

Using AI Agent with Your Website Context

To get content recommendations specific to your website:

  1. Ensure your website Project is selected in the Project selector
  2. Use the AI Agent as you normally would
  3. Toggle on "AI Agent Mode" for domain-specific assistance
  4. The AI will now provide content suggestions optimized for your specific website

How to Analyze Multiple Websites

If you need to run Site Audit or AI Traffic Analytics on different websites:

  1. Create a separate Project for each website following the steps above
  2. To switch between websites:
    • Click on the Project selector in the sidebar
    • Select the website you want to analyze from the dropdown
    • The tools will now analyze the currently selected website

Each website maintains its own separate analytics and settings.

Common Questions

"I can't find Site Audit or AI Traffic Analytics"

Make sure:

  • You've selected a Project with a connected domain (not the Default Project)
  • Your subscription plan includes these tools
  • You're looking in the correct sidebar section ("SEO & Content workflow" for Site Audit)

"Can I run Site Audit on my website without creating a Project?"

No, Site Audit and AI Traffic Analytics require a domain-connected Project. The Default Project doesn't have a domain connection, which is why you need to create a new Project for your website.

"How do I switch back to general content creation?"

If you want to create content not specific to any website:

  1. Click the Project selector
  2. Select "Default Project"
  3. You can now use Writesonic's content tools without domain context

"Can I analyze multiple websites at once?"

While you can't analyze multiple websites simultaneously, you can create a separate Project for each website and quickly switch between them using the Project selector.
