Troubleshooting and FAQs
Common Issues
No Data Showing After Setup
Possible causes:
- The Cloudflare Worker may not be properly deployed
- Your site hasn't received AI crawler visits yet
- There might be a reporting delay (up to 24 hours)
Solutions:
- Verify the Worker is correctly deployed in your Cloudflare dashboard
- Check that your site is accessible to external crawlers
- Wait 24-48 hours for data to appear
- Run the verification test from the setup page
Missing Data for Specific AI Platforms
Possible causes:
- The AI platform might not be crawling your site
- Our system might not yet recognize a new crawler signature
Solutions:
- Ensure your content is relevant to that AI platform's typical queries
- Contact support if you believe a specific AI platform should be visiting but isn't detected
Unexpected Drops in AI Traffic
Possible causes:
- AI systems update their crawling patterns
- Your content might have become outdated
- Technical issues might be blocking crawlers
Solutions:
- Check for any technical changes to your site
- Update content to ensure it remains relevant
- Verify robots.txt settings aren't blocking crawlers
- Look for correlations with known AI model updates
Frequently Asked Questions
What AI platforms do you currently track?
We currently track and identify:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT)
- Google (Gemini)
- Perplexity
- Deepseek
- Meta (Llama)
- Microsoft (Copilot)
- Additional systems are added as they emerge
How is this different from bot tracking in server logs?
While basic server logs might show bot visits, AI Traffic Analytics:
- Specifically identifies AI crawler signatures
- Provides purpose-built metrics and visualization
- Offers analysis tools designed for AI optimization
- Continues to update crawler identification as systems evolve
- Shows trends and patterns specific to AI interactions
Does this slow down my website?
No. Our tracking system uses server-side integration that has zero impact on page load times or performance. Unlike JavaScript-based analytics, there's no code added to your pages.
Is this compliant with privacy regulations?
Yes. AI Traffic Analytics tracks AI crawler behavior, not individual users. It doesn't collect personal data and is fully compliant with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations.
How often is the data updated?
Data is processed and updated in near real-time.
Can I block AI crawlers after seeing this data?
While our system provides visibility, blocking decisions are separate. If you wish to limit AI crawlers, you should update your robots.txt file or implement other access controls. However, we generally recommend allowing AI systems to access your content for increased visibility.
What's coming next for this feature?
Our roadmap includes:
- Citation tracking (seeing when your content is referenced in AI responses)
- Expanded integration options beyond Cloudflare
- Correlation between AI visits and subsequent human traffic
- Content optimization recommendations
- Custom alerts and reporting
Does this work for all websites?
The primary integration works for any website using Cloudflare. We're rapidly expanding to support other platforms with upcoming integrations for WordPress, Vercel, AWS, and direct server implementations.
