Getting Started: Onboarding and Configuring Your Brand

What to Expect During Onboarding

When you first enter the Brand Presence module, an intuitive onboarding flow walks you through configuring your visibility tracking setup. The goal is to:

  1. Define your brand for LLM visibility analysis
  2. Specify competitors to benchmark performance against
  3. Select topics to track where you want visibility
  4. Understand how your setup impacts results and the dashboard views

This flow is designed to help both beginners and experienced users get started quickly and accurately. Each step includes:

  • Inline help descriptions
  • Input examples (e.g., brand name, topics)
  • Visual indicators of where that input will impact your dashboard

Detailed Walkthrough of Onboarding Steps

Welcome Screen

An overview of what Brand Presence does:

  • Explains the shift from traditional SEO to LLM-based discovery
  • Highlights how prompt-based AI scanning works
  • Shows examples of insights you’ll gain once setup is complete

Step 1 – Add Your Brand

Purpose: Tells the system which brand to track in AI responses.

Inputs Required:

  • Brand Name: Your official brand or company name. Used to match textual mentions.
  • Domain Name (optional): Helps match and analyze citations in responses (e.g., if the model references "example.com").

🧠

Why it matters: The name and domain serve as your visibility signature. If entered incorrectly, your results may underrepresent real mentions.

Step 2 – Add Competitors

Purpose: Enables benchmarking by comparing your presence with direct and indirect competitors.

Inputs Required:

  • Up to 5 competitor names (you can always update this later)
  • Optionally add domains for each competitor

🧠

Why it matters: This makes the visibility leaderboard and rankings table meaningful. You’ll see how much more (or less) competitors are mentioned and in what position.

Step 3 – Track Topics

Purpose: Define areas of interest to track your brand's presence in.

Inputs Required:

  • Up to 10 topics (e.g., "AI Copywriting", "Marketing Automation", "Top CRM tools")

Tips While Entering Topics:

  • Use terms your customers are likely to search or ask AI about
  • Avoid overly broad topics (e.g., just “AI”)
  • Avoid hyper-specific ones unless strategic (e.g., “Real-time GPT content APIs”)

🧠

Why it matters: These topics form the basis for the prompts used to query ChatGPT and Perplexity. If your brand doesn’t show up under key topics, that’s a gap you can now identify and fix.

Step 4 – Review Summary & Start Tracking

Purpose: Confirm configuration and trigger the first round of LLM visibility checks.

Displayed Info:

  • Your brand name and domain
  • List of competitors
  • List of selected topics

Once confirmed, click “Start Tracking”. The system initiates prompt executions (100+ per topic across supported LLMs).

You’ll see a status page indicating:

  • Processing underway
  • Estimated time to completion
